Overview

The 16th-century building now housing the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC) remains one of Valletta’s most remarkable landmarks. Located at the tip of the Valletta peninsula, the MCC offers magnificent views across the Grand Harbour. Its transformation into a modern conference centre in 1979, coupled with its sheer size and scale, marks it as an impressive architectural feat. The sensitive and innovative restoration earned the prestigious ‘Europa Nostra’ Award for successfully blending fine old architecture with modern technology.

The MCC serves not only as a venue for conferences but also hosts a wide range of events—including product launches, exhibitions, conventions, banquets, and theatrical performances—making it one of the finest venues in the Mediterranean. As a rare regional example of a heritage building meeting 21st-century demands, it is also one of Europe’s largest historical conference centres. Spanning over 8,000 square meters, the Centre features striking spaces such as the Republic Hall, seating 1,400 theatre-style, and the elegant La Valette Hall, accommodating up to 900 for banquets. Additionally, a variety of smaller, individually-styled halls cater to receptions, seminars, and modest-scale conferences.

The MCC is fully equipped with audio-visual systems, interpretation facilities, and independent sound, light, and climate control in all rooms. For receptions and banqueting, the Centre partners with the Island’s largest catering providers, supported by an in-house, fully-fledged kitchen beneath La Valette Hall. This allows for high-quality dining experiences and the capability to serve up to 4,000 covers a day.
